Erode is located near to Coimbatore, at the banks of the River Cauvery. Erode is one of the major producer of Turmeric and next comes the other place Mysore in Karnataka. There are two water bodies in Erode Kalingarayan Channel and Perumpalayam. The city is located in cotton producing area and they are also involved in producing transport equipment. There are many tourist places located in Erode. They are Sangameshwarar Temple which is located near to the Railway Station. This was built with black stones at a meeting place of two rivers namely Bhavani and Kaveri. In this temple all the God and Goddess of the temple are located near the Lord Murugan Shrine. So this temple is known as Kanthamurthy. The next pilgrim centre is Kodumudi and it is situated in the bank of the river Kaveri. The popular Magudeswarar temple has all the gods like Brahma, Vishnu, Siva located in the same campus. There are many hill temples in Erode for Lord Muruga like Chennimalai, Vattamalai and Sivanmalai. There are two dams located in Erode namely Kodiveri Dam and Bhavanisagar Dam.
